The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue This program is closed The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (2008) was established by the decision of the European Parliament and of the Council. Europe is becoming more culturally diverse. The enlargement of the European Union, deregulation of employment laws and globalisation have increased the multicultural character of many countries, adding to the number of languages, religions, ethnic and cultural backgrounds found on the continent. As a result, intercultural dialogue has an increasingly important role to play in fostering European identity and citizenship. Treasure Diversity This program is closed The project aims at raising awareness of the general public about the ethnocultural diversity in Romania and contributing to a better understanding of the multicultural values. „Treasure Diversity” consists of a media campaign and an educational component which addresses to gymnasium and secondary school pupils and teachers. The multicultural Cluj in the European Union This program is closed In addition to the regular services offered by the library, EDRC - European Information Center aims to organize in 2007 events dedicated to the public, especially to the youth and readers of the library. These debates, meetings, round table discussions are focused on the issue of the integration of Romania into the european structures, aiming to mark the début of Romania as a European state. EDRC participated in the 5th Peninsula/Félsziget Festival, July 25–29, 2007, Târgu-Mureş This program is closed Around 200 cultural events were scheduled on the 5th edition of the festival. The organizers prepared a „green festival", an ecological and multicultural one, without any politics, where having fun and culture seemed to have equal share. Partnership for multicultural Cluj. Monitoring the implementation of minority rights at the local level This program is closed The aim of the project is to promote cooperation and inter-ethnic dialogue in Cluj-Napoca through a proposed mechanism of monitoring and improvement of minority rights at the local level. Diversity through Art This program is closed The project contributes to the awareness and to promoting the values of ethnic diversity through arts. The project aims to refer to theater and other forms of artistic expression (pantomime, dance, multimedia) in order to facilitate the multicultural learning process and develop special abilities of effective participation to the act of creation. The conference "Texts of Power. Sources on Hungarians in Romania (1945-1989)" This program is closed Between December 2-4, 2004, EDRC organized a conference for more than 30 historians – from Hungary, Romanians and Hungarians from Romania, an Italian and a French – who activate in the field of discovering recent history and who have published and made research in the field of the proposed topic. The event took place in the conference room of the EDRC headquarters. Institutionalizing interethnic dialogue This program is closed The project aims to carry out a survey on initiatives of Romanian-Hungarian dialogue between 1990-2001 and their impact on the Romanian-Hungarian relations in general. Advocacy campaigns in interethnic relations This program is closed In 2000 the program awarded grants for projects aiming to improve the interethnic climate, to promote dialogue between the majority and minorities by presenting the specific situation of national minorities and by promoting the rights of these communities with a view to overcoming communicational barriers and differences in perception among the different segments of the population. Interethnic Partnerships This program is closed The program is addressed to non-governmental organizations, public institutions, and informal local groups, for undertaking joint projects in multiethnic communities. |
